WANTED
Book & Lyrics by Angelica Chéri
Music by Ross Baum
Choreographed by Chelsey Arce
Directed by Stevie Walker-Webb
Texas, 1893 — a time gone, but not forgotten. Twin sisters determined to save their family take fate into their own hands. Hiding who they are and taking what they’re owed, they straddle the line between two Americas.
A new Broadway musical that brings a defiant legacy to life, WANTED is the mostly true story of Mary and Martha Clarke, two extraordinary women who went from farmgirls to outlaws to legends. The production stars Solea Pfeiffer as Mary and Liisi LaFontaine as Martha.
Featuring book and lyrics by Angelica Chéri (a real-life descendant of Mary and Martha Clarke), music by Ross Baum, and direction by Tony nominee Stevie Walker-Webb. WANTED (formerly GUN & POWDER) won the 2018 Richard Rodgers Award, made its World Premiere at the Signature Theatre in 2020, and ran at Paper Mill Playhouse in 2024, where it was named a New York Times Critic's Pick. It will open on Broadway at the James Earl Jones Theatre on November 8th.

2024 Paper Mill Playhouse Production
"A big-throated American musical filled with star-making roles for Black women. The type of audacious and rollicking story that's too often missing from American stages."
- The New York Times (Critic's Pick)
"Absolutely indelible and bursting with lively music. Baum’s score paints a cohesive, near-comprehensive sonic picture of Black American music, with soul, blues, and R&B cohabiting with banjos, spirituals, and Big Easy trumpets."
- Theatrely (Best of 2024)
"Like a shot in the dark, it arrives as one of the most invigorating and promising new musicals of the last several seasons."
- TheatreMania
"★★★★★... hands-down one of the best musicals I’ve seen in the past decade, with vocal performances that will leave you breathless. Baum’s inspiring score exhibits rare, exhilarating, talent."
- DC Theatre Scene
ESCAPELAND
Book & Lyrics by Charlie Oh
Music by Ross Baum
Becca Brown lives in the shadow of Smileville, resenting the affluence, privilege, and cheer she never had access to. When she unexpectedly finds herself playing a princess inside the park, she ends up discovering the family she never had. Her hard-earned cynicism begins to fade just as the dark underbelly of Smileville rears its head, and Becca must choose between staying in the land of smiles and the harsh truth of the real world. This musical comedy about the backstage life of theme park employees examines class, family, and capitalism with a dark flair. The show uses pastiche numbers mixed with a contemporary pop score to reveal the inner life and turmoil of people who are asked to be professionally happy.
ESCAPELAND was developed through the BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshop and the American Music Theatre Project at Northwestern University, directed by Lisa Peterson (Good Night, Oscar).
